About Sarah

I'm Sarah Miller.   For the last 3 years, I've been teaching math to middle school students out in the Vail School District.  This year I am so excited to make the move up to high school, and to experience a totally new environment at City!  I thoroughly enjoy mathematics - learning, doing and teaching, and my goal as a teacher is to help my students see the beauty and power of math, and my hope is that they would leave my room liking math (even a little) more than when they entered.

My husband, Mat, is also a math teacher.  He teaches at Pantano High School, in the Vail School District.  We enjoy cooking, drinking wine, traveling and lesson planning together.  (Well, I don't know how much we enjoy lesson planning, but we do it together!) We've also both been involved in mentoring youth for over 6 years.

I've settled in Tucson after moving all over the world as a military brat.  My dad was stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB when I was born (so, technically, I'm a native, right?) and I lived in Tucson until I was 8. Then, we moved to Korea, Wyoming and Japan before coming back to Tucson, where my dad retired.  We spent nearly 7 years in Japan, it's where I graduated high school and it was my favorite of all the places we've been.  I'd like to go back for a visit at least once more!

Though I've never lived there, I consider Minnesota "home."  It's where both my parents grew up, and it's where all of my extended family lives.  I'm a hardcore Twins ad Vikings fan, and yes, I am accustomed to seeing my team come close and lose.
